What Customers Say About FIFA Soccer 09:

before I upgraded my system to windows 7 64bit (still had the same hardware stated when I was running XP).So I don't know what to say except that I am disappointed in the frame rate of the game play and the tedious unguided work it took for me to get it there (there was no help for these problems on neither EA's nor windows websites as if they are not aware that the problem exists.). By the way I have a NVidia 6800GT 256MB graphics card on a 2.4GHz quad core Pentium processor and 3GB RAM.

I had to update my video card drivers and download a.dll file to install in he windows system32 directory. From reading previous reviews I wasn't prepared for the amount of work i had to do to get this game functioning on my system.

Now I know better than to trust what Microsoft says.Apart from this, I still have noticeably choppy frame rate, All this after tweaking the video card settings and the game settings. I suppose maybe its because I'm running windows 7 64bit.

Even though the windows 7 website has a nice big green check mark beside this game certifying compatibility for the 64bit version of windows without having to make any modifications or anything to your system.rrrright.suuuure. My fifa07 played noticeably better.waaay smoother.

Apart from all that drama the game is okay and has all the bells and whistles that they purport on the gaming websites and message boards but, good GOD it was stressful to get the game to work in the first place.

I picked this up to play with a relative (who is just learning to play soccer), and I am not a soccer fan. The game is fun and I have no major problems with the actual game. HOWEVER, if you are fairly new to soccer, there is virtually NO documentation in the instructions about Soccer. There is no explanation of any of the rules, and very little explanation of how to perform some moves in the game (they tell you what button is for shooting the ball, but nothing about what the shot power meter does, can you direct a shot in a certain direction, height, etc). The game itself is pretty fun, but unless you are a big soccer fan (not as many in the U.S.A. as there are Football or baseball fans), or unless you have had and mastered FIFA 08.the documentation is very poor here.

Eternally excellent, FIFA 09 has many improvements that make the game more real. A good game for a low cost. Very good EA's policy of lowering the game price before the start of the new version.

When you collide, dive, shoot, or do anything else that has a scripted animation, you'll have to wait till your character re-composes themselves before you can start to play again. My greatest misgiving with the game has to be the scripted animations. Every turn, dive, kick, or header is a scripted animation, meaning that you have no control over the character until they are finished pulling off their move.-Slow, bogged down play. Pros:-Complete and extensive rosters of all the football teams around the world.-Good commentary that remains spot-on with what is happening on the field.-Descent (not superb) crowd noise.-Multiple game modes including: Create a Pro, Create a Manager, and others typical with EA football games.Cons:-Poor controls. Even though it may not have the team licenses, it beats getting a migraine from playing EA's FIFA 2009. Alas, this has yet to be.

Every year I hope that EA has fired the previous years designers and completely revamped the game.

While this is to appeal towards the realism fanatics, THIS game takes it one step further.-Horrible graphics.

I don't know what football EA watches, but when your team is down a goal or two, players hustle like mad to retain the ball and score.

Players will often switch directions when you suddenly select them.

My team would be down a goal, and my players would casually coast forward after stumbling when losing the ball.

I have yet to play FIFA 08, but knowing how the NCAA and Madden series are with graphic updates, the look of this game looks as if was created in 2002.

The crowd graphics are 2D, and look like cardboard cutouts.Overall, this game was a huge disappointment.

If your looking for a great football game, pick up Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.

I loved the ability for form updates, but I wish they didn't cost so much considering how incredibly cheap it is for someone to watch some games (or who knows, they could just look at some statistics) and type in a few numbers for who had a good week). I used to be a big PES proponent, but these past two years FIFA has surged into the lead in my opinion. The game play is simply better. In fact I don't think them doing it for free for a single season would be too much to ask. The online interface definitely needs some work, I got so many people that I could not connect to that it would often take 10 minutes just to find someone I could connect to, that it really soured the experience. The DRM is a bit worrying and I hope they knock it off because it's not like they will stop people wanting to copy the game -- their best hope is to make the online aspect enticing enough that people will buy it for that (since that is safe from pirates)Still though, as a soccer fan, it's my favorite video game in the world.
